Some Highlights From The Red Carpet At The 2011 Golden Globes

The 2011 Golden Globes took place yesterday and below you will find video of Ryan Seacrest interviewing several of the nominees as they made their way into the show including Lea Michell from Glee as well as Natalie Portman who won for her role in the movie Black Swan.



Also of course, Seacrest interviews Alec Baldwin and the smokin' hot Sofia Vergara among many others.

So Who Do You Want To See Cast In The New Charlie's Angels TV Series?

I just heard that ABC has given the green light for a brand new series based on the 1970s series Charlie's Angels that launched several careers including of course Farrah Fawcett. In case you don't remember (or are too young to have seen the original), here's the opening from the pilot:



The series was put together by Aaron Spelling and ran from 1976-81 although Fawcett left after the first year. Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson stayed for the full run, but were joined by Cheryl Ladd from the 2nd season on as the younger sister of Fawcett's character. Fawcett is listed in the credits as "Fawcett-Majors" as she was still married to Lee Majors of "The Fall Guy" fame at the time.

The series was brought to the big screen in 2000 with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu as the three private investigators as well as a sequel (Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle) in 2003. Barrymore actually appear to be involved in this latest incarnation of the potential series, but will not be on screen. She is involved in this project more along the lines as a producer. The folks who did the series Smallville will be looking after the on-set/on-camera activity. Also, the series will reportedly be based in Miami rather than California.

So, who do think should be cast as one of the lovely Angels? And who will get to play Bosley? And who will be the voice of Charlie himself now that John Forsythe who originally voice Charlie in the series (and the 2 movies) has passed on? And will he be seen in this new version.

Lots of questions, but obviously the casting of the 3 main characters is what will be of the most interest. Some young unknown or one or more of the various starlets around Hollywood.

2011 Golden Globes: List Of Winners And Losers

The 68th Golden Globes were handed out January 16th and there seemed to be a fair distribution of different shows that received awards this time around. There was something of a cloud over the Golden Globes (as usual) about who was nominated (and who wasn't: think Leonardo DiCaprio) and what picture inexplicably was deemed good enough for nomination when panned by critics and movie-goers (think: Burlesque), but that is all in the past.

There were some expected wins, Colin Firth for his performance in "The King's Speech", "Toy Story 3", Melissa Leo for "The Fighter" (used to love her on Homicide: Life On The Street back in the day). Glee snapped up the top award for Best TV Show, Comedy and "Boardwalk Empire" for Best TV Show, Drama. And Jim Parsons won for "The Big Bang Theory" (one of my personal favorites).

"The Social Network" took the Best Motion Picture, Drama" award and "Black Swan" or just about any of the other nominees in that category would have been perfectly fine choices. The movie won 4 Golden Globes in total.

All this is just a preamble for when the game gets serious with the Academy Awards which will held in about 6 weeks from now with many of the nominees up for Oscars. But don't expect to see Burlesque among those listed on the ballot.

Toy Story Short Attached To Upcoming Cars 2 Project

Even though the Toy Story movies seem to have concluded with the 3rd movie that was just in the theaters, there is still some news for Buzz Lightyear and Woody fans as it has been confirmed that there will be a short Toy Story film just before the new Cars 2 movie starts. Cars 2 will be out June 24, 2011 and is a followup on the highly successful Cars that came out in 2006.

Owen Wilson makes a return trip as Lightning McQueen and Larry The Cable Guy is also back as Lightning's pal Mater with his "downhome" ways. Unfortunately there will be no Paul Newman to repeat his turn as Doc Hudson as Newman passed away September 28, 2008.

In this one, Lightning McQueen faces off with cars from around the world in the "1st Ever World Grand Prix to determine the "World's Fastest Car" and Lightning and Mater meet up with Michael Cane as a british spy car.

But happily, besides the news about the Cars 2 trailer and movie, it is good to see that the characters from Toy Story are not about to be put away forever. Let's see some more of Woody and Buzz and the gang.

New Trailer For Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

The Return Of Cap'n Jack Sparrow? Yes, Johnny Depp is back as everyone's favorite Disney Pirate (with apologies to Captain Hook). "On Stranger Tides" is the 4th chapter in the saga about the crew and wayward captain of the Black Pearl and won't be released until May 20, 2011, so all you Sparrow fans will have to watch the latest trailer.



The plot seems to be that our good Captain (Depp) joins forces with Barbarossa (Geoffrey Rush) once again and this time they are off to find the legendary Fountain of Youth. Along for the ride will be the yummy Penelope Cruz as Angelica (a woman from Sparrow's past) and Ian McShane as the infamous Blackbeard.

And sorry folks, no Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley in this latest adventure. It's been 3 years (4 when the film's released) since Depp donned his pirate garb but expect it to rake in a lot of moola when it is released.

Noomi Rapace Opposite Downey Jr In Next Sherlock Holmes Movie

It looks like Swedish actress Noomi Rapace will be the female lead opposite Robert Downey Jr in the next Sherlock Holmes movie scheduled for a December 2011 release. Rapace was in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy with all three films released in 2009.

I don't know if this means there will be no Rachel McAdams returning as Irene Adler. I sure hope McAdams is back because I really enjoy seeing her on the screen in just about anything she's done. As far as Rapace goes, I don't believe she's done any acting in English, but of course that doesn't mean she doesn't have the acting chops to play against Downey Jr, who's no slouch himself in the acting dept. She just finished a film called Beyond and has another due this year: Clean Out as well as another scheduled for 2011 called The Nazi Officer's Wife.

I am unfamiliar with her work, but she is pretty, if you get past the severe punkish-goth look. She does appear that with a different look like she has in the left picture she will do well for the time period the film will be set.

And Guy Ritchie will be helming the sequel as well. The original did pretty good at the box office, bringing around $523 million in worldwide gross.

New Series Hellcats Premieres On CW

The new series HELLCATS aired Wednesday September 8 at 9:00 PM et/pt on The CW. Starring Aly Michalka as Marti Perkins, Ashley Tisdale as Savannah Monroe, Heather Hemmens as Alice Verdura, Robbie Jones as Lewis Flynn, Matt Barr as Dan Patch, with Sharon Leal as Vanessa Lodge and Gail O’Grady as Wanda Perkins.

At first glance, Michalka looks a lot like 90210's AnnaLynne Mccord (only blonder). She's been in a fair number of Disney flicks and done some work with her equally pretty sister Amanda (Cow Belles in 2006).

Episode: Hellcats “A World Full of Strangers” Marti Perkins (Michalka), is a law student at Lancer University, but finds out that scholarship is being withdrawn and her mom, Wanda (Gail O’Grady, “NYPD Blue,” “American Dreams”) has somehow forgotten to let her know. Without much choice because of finances, Marti discovers that she can stay in school by winning a place on the Hellcats cheer squad and nabbing one of the scholarships that comes with the spot.

Even though Marti has a run-in with Savannah (Tisdale), the Hellcats team captain, Marti wins over coach Vanessa Lodge (Sharon Leal, Dreamgirls). She gets on the squad (and shows her moves above) and gets thrust into the competitive world of cheerleading - it's better than it sounds.

Marti tries to figure out this new world of cheerleading with the help of her best friend Dan (Matt Barr, Harper’s Island) while becoming roommates with Savannah. She's also caught the eye of Lewis Flynn (Robbie Jones, One Tree Hill) who is the ex-boyfriend of Alice Verdura (Heather Hemmens, CSI: Miami), so some jealousy there.

This first episode was directed by Allan Arkush (formerly an executive producer on Heroes) and director for a number episodes of Crossing Jordan.

Latest Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Trailer

Here's the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) due out in November 2010.

The plot of the 2nd last Potter film is that Harry, Ron and Hermione leave Hogwarts behind to destroy Voldemort's power and immortality by finding and smashing the Horcruxes - objects where the Dark Wizard has hidden pieces of his soul so he can achieve immortality. The first Horcrux that Harry Potter came into contact with was Tom Riddle's diary in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The director of this film is David Yates again, who also helmed the highly successful Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movies and will be in the director's chair for the final installment of the series due out June 15th, 2011.

And the cast is of course made up of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and other old favorites from the movie series. The date for release is November 19th, so a little over 2 months to go.

Ep. 36: Evil Is Going On - Preview

Sunday Night At 9pm you have a date with Sookie Stackhouse. That's when the season three finale airs and we find out some truths and new plotlines will open up. If you haven't been following True Blood, you've been missing out on one of the hottest shows on television right now.

Here's a link to the True Blood Episode Guide, which should hopefully get you up to speed on what has been happening with Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and the rest of the Bon Temps regulars.

After Episode 36: Evil Is Going On airs, HBO will start showing repeats of season three starting Monday, September 27th with the first 3 episodes of the season: Bad Blood, Beautifully Broken and It Hurts Me Too airing back to back to back for a 3 hour True Blood marathon and then on Tuesday we get to see the next three episodes: 9 Crimes, Trouble and I Got The Right To Sing The Blues.

And so on til we get to see the finale again on Friday October 1st.

Glee Promo For Start Of Season Two Starting September 21st

Looks like the cast of Glee is gearing up for season two of the hit series. The season kicks off on September 21, 2010 and the clip above seems to promise more of the same fun as we had watching last season.

Melissa & Joey's New Sitcom - Think It'll Make It?

This is just a short little video from the ABC Family show Melissa & Joey, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. First off all I can notice is that "Whoa!" Joey's bald. Sorry, you know I had to throw a whoa in there somewhere. Lawrence was Joey Russo back in the early 90s on the show Blossom and that was his catch phrase. Before Blossom he was on Gimmie A Break! again playing a character named Joey.

Of course the "Melissa" in Melissa & Joey is Melissa Joan Hart who was Sabrina The Teenage Witch for 7 seasons also with ABC. Both Hart and Lawrence have appeared together before as they were in an ABC movie called My Fake Fiance that got respectable ratings back in 2009 when it aired.

Recent Emmy Winner Archie Panjabi On Her Role In The Good Wife

Archie Panjabi just won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work as Kalinda Sharma on the CBS series The Good Wife. The striking 38-year-old hails from Middlesex England and has done some fine work over the last 15 years or so. She had a smaller part in the film Bend It Like Beckham with Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley and just finished a 5 episode run of Personal Affairs before joining the cast of The Good Wife with veterans Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth.

When the series first aired it seemed to be simply a short story about a woman (Margulies) coping with the infidelities of her husband (Noth) which I figured wuld be yet another boring re-telling of that old tale.

The series keeps being raised to my attention and that of others as a quality drama with excellent character development. I'll have to take a look again. And Panjabi's character just from the clip seems intriguing enough to warrant a further review.
