Amy Poehler's “Parks and Recreation”
Amy Poehler is set to star in a new series called Parks And Recreation, starting Thursdays. Poehler will be playing Leslie Knope, the deputy director in the parks department of Pawnee, Indiana. Leslie Knope is described as "a bureaucrat infused with a clueless, Michael Scott-like optimism", think The Office meets the great outdoors. Poehler's character is the kind of person who reacts to the public's criticism by explaining that "what I hear when I'm being yelled at is people caring loudly at me."
Poehler's character, Knope, has a crush on Mark Brendanawicz (played by Paul Schneider) who is a touch clueless himself. He and Knope slept together once, but Brendanawicz doesn't remember their coupling. Other castmembers include: Aziz Ansari (who plays Knope's colleague, Tom), and Nick Offerman who plays her boss. I think it may be a wait and see for this one. It has some good points, namely Poehler, along with the producers of The Office lending a hand. If the writing hits the clever level that The Office has enjoyed, then it might be interesting viewing.
